Derek Featherstone
Derek Featherstone is an internationally known speaker and authority on accessibility and inclusive design. He has been working on the web since 1999, starting as a web developer. He migrated to the field of accessibility and quickly discovered the need to move accessibility and inclusion into the design process. He founded and led an international team of accessibility and usability experts at Simply Accessible, recently acquired by Level Access, where Derek is now the chief experience officer – focused on ensuring that accessibility and inclusion are seen as an integral part of user experience and service design, rather than a simple checklist afterthought. Derek lives in Ottawa, Canada, with his wife and their four children. He’s also a fitness instructor and three-time Iron Man triathlon finisher.

Patricia Moore is an American industrial designer, gerontologist, and author. She has been recognized by ID Magazine as one of the "40 Most Socially Conscious Designers" in the world. In 2000 she was selected by a consortium of news editors and organizations as one of the "100 Most Important Women in America." ABC World News featured her as one of "50 Americans Defining the New Millennium."

Bill Tyler
Bill Tyler is a Senior Digital Accessibility Engineer in the Accessibility Center of Excellence of Optum Technology (part of UnitedHealth Group). He is currently working with Denis Boudreau and others in a Role-Based Accessibility working group directly tied to the topic of his presentation. Prior to his current work in accessibility Bill has several decades of experience in user experience design and development primarily in healthcare and medical devices.

Marcia Gonzales
Marcia Gonzales is the chief compliance officer of IU. She has served as AVP for research compliance, compliance and privacy officer to the IU School of Medicine, and as executive director of research compliance in the Office of Research Administration (IUPUI). Marcia holds a BA in English and Political Science from IUPUI, and received her JD from the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law. She also holds an Adjunct Professorship at the Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

Matthew Gunkel
Matthew Gunkel serves as director of Teaching and Learning Technologies at IU, where he leads the Assistive Technology and Accessibility Centers to provide equal and inclusive access in the classroom. Matthew also leads eLearning Design and Services in the creation, development, and integration for the systems that drive and deliver digital education as part of IU Online. Matthew has over a decade of experience in developing robust integrated solutions that work to transform the user experience in higher education. He earned a MA in Information Systems and has given talks at Educause, IMS Global, Instructure, Unizin, OLC, and many others.

Greg Hanek
Greg Hanek is IU’s (digital) Accessibility Architect, working in the User Experience Office. He has been passionate about accessibility and helping others learn about it for more than two decades at IU. He’s currently helping create a culture where making usable things for all humans is a default.

Brian Richwine manages the UITS Assistive Technology and Accessibility Centers at IU, which provide direct support to, and advocacy for, students with disabilities. Brian has over 15 years experience working with assistive technology, alternate media, and IT accessibility. He has a BSEE, is active in the Big Academic Alliance IT Accessibility Group, and has presented at the CSUN Assistive Technology Conference, IMS Global, and across IU.

Sandi Arendalkowski is an Accessibility and User Experience Designer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She's been doing Business Analysis and Inclusive Design work for 11 years. She studied Mass Communications, earned her MS in User Interaction Design, and is in the Information Accessibility Development and Policy Graduate Certificate program at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Brian Hawkins
Brian Hawkins is Indiana University’s UX Officer. He currently leads the digital accessibility and user experience initiatives for the university, but he’s worked in digital spaces for over 20 years. His work in the private sector (including UI design for one of the first online banking apps) gives him a unique perspective on the next steps for higher ed’s digital campuses. His ultimate goal: To make the web for higher ed suck less.
